Mel Schultz, CPM®, CCIM

Mel Schultz, CPM^®, has been in the Real Estate business since March of 2003, prior to 2003 he was in Medical Device manufacturing after serving in the US Navy as an electrician working on F/A – 18s.  Schultz was instrumental in growing the family business and in negotiating the sale of that business to New Concepts in 2009. Schultz’s management portfolio consists of retail properties, commercial office buildings, commercial associations and raw land development. Schultz has been a member of the New Concepts Management Group (NCMGI) team since 2009. On January 1, 2018, Mel and NCMGI ownership formed Clarity Commercial Services, LLC to further their efforts on growing a Commercial Real Estate portfolio and business. He is committed to the growth of Clarity Commercial, it’s client’s growth and his personal education and training. Schultz’s professionalism, personality and integrity are the main attributes the clients Schultz represents deeply appreciate.

Recognizing the credibility and distinction of the CPM^® designation, Schultz began his IREM involvement in 2003 and earned his CPM^® designation in 2007. Long active in IREM’s Minnesota Chapter, he has served in numerous chapter leadership positions, including that of 2014 MN Chapter President. He has also been honored as the chapter’s CPM^® of the Year in 2014 and most recently received the 2017 Spirit of IREM award. At the National level Schultz also has served as a member of its Governing Council, a committee member on IREM’s Industry Standards Board and Membership and Credentialing Committee, Regional Vice President and is currently serving on the Executive Committee as a Member At Large.

Schultz is also involved with other organizations and earned his Certified Community Association Manager designation through the Minnesota Multi-Family Housing Association (recognized as the Outstanding CIC Manager of the Year in 2013) and the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation in 2011. Schultz is heavily involved by attending various events, serving on committees and in many leadership roles within each of these organizations. Schultz currently lives in Rosemount, Minnesota with his wife of more than 19 years, and is very active in their children’s many activities.

Sarah Schultz

Sarah began her adventure with Property Management in 2000, when she helped develop a family property management business. Availing herself of as many opportunities as possible to learn the business and obtain her realtor’s license she became very well equipped to join her husband in the development of Clarity Commercial. Sarah has 25 plus years of accounting experience and serves as Controller of Clarity Commercial.

Sarah has been married to her husband, Mel, for 27 years. She is passionate about being Mom to their 3 children; ShayLynn (hubby, Jacob), Micah and Sonja. Sarah likes being informed about political, health and well-being issues. You will find her most often in her kitchen cooking a delicious meal or using her creative decorative skills to make her home an inviting and comfortable place.

Kevin Thoresen

John Westby

John Westby joined Clarity Commercial as a Property Manager in October 2023. John received his bachelor’s degree from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN and a Master of Divinity Degree from Luther Theological Seminary. John comes to Clarity with a background as a Lutheran Pastor serving in Brazil and various places in the US and as a Church Administrator for several years. Upon retirement from ministry he, together with his family, ventured into the Property Management business becoming a property manager, realtor and broker.

John took a hiatus from Property Management and fulfilled a life-long dream, becoming an over the road driver of an 18 wheeler. Now he is involved once again in Property Management. John enjoys being surrounded by our group of young, intelligent and very energetic and engaged leaders. He also enjoys reading and golf. Most of all he loves spending time with his wife of 65 years, Val, his 4 children and spouses, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

ShayLynn Vollert

ShayLynn Vollert joined the Clarity team in 2023. ShayLynn has over 3 years of experience in property management. Her journey with property management, however, began many years before, growing up around her family’s property management business.

ShayLynn received her bachelor’s degree in international business and German from Hillsdale College. ShayLynn is fluent in German and lived in Würzburg, Germany for many months during her college years. In her free time, you can find her curled up with a book or trying new restaurants with her husband, Jacob.

Lerew Kaas

Lerew Kaas joined the Clarity team in 2023.  Lerew has over 3+ years of experience in commercial property management.

Lerew holds a bachelor’s degree in social science from Metropolitan State University. Prior to working in property management, Lerew worked in various positions for both the state and federal government. With a background in legal and legislative experience, he has developed his problem-solving, productivity, and critical thinking skills. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family, while also pursuing his master’s degree in business administration.

Taylor Sonnenfeld, CPM®

Taylor Sonnenfeld joined the Clarity team in June 2019.  A licensed real estate agent, with 8 years of experience in both residential and commercial property management.  Taylor earned her CPM® designation through IREM in 2022 after being nominated for IREM’s 2021-22 Next-Gen CPM® Leaders Program.  Taylor’s portfolio at Clarity Commercial includes over 200,000 square feet in office, retail, restaurant, and medical buildings.

Taylor is an active member of IREM, MNCAR, and has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Corrections from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Prior to working in property management Taylor worked with adolescents in a mental health residential program as a case manager where she gained leadership, communication, and organizational skills.   In her free time, she is stays busy with her daughter, enjoys reading, cycling, outdoor adventures, and spending time with her friends and family!

Tom Larson

Tom Larson joined Clarity Commercial, and property management, in September of 2021.

The previous twenty five years were in the transportation industry.

In the fall of 2005 Larson and a business partner started Alliance Courier in Bloomington MN.

It was a thrill that the startup of two people grew to 135 employees in five states.

The courier business had evolvved to that of tractor trailers and freight, and Tom decided to make the change over the summer of 2021.

Problem solving, serving customers, and relating to all walks of people serve well when transitioning to a new industry.

Tom’s pedigree of promptly replying to people, the utilization of resources, and being proactive, serves everyone very well.

Dave Thomas

Tyler Sutton

Tyler Sutton joined the Clarity team in July 2021.  Tyler works in the accounting department for Clarity and has 2+ years of experience in the accounting field working in the Corporate Income Tax Department of Starkey.

Tyler has experience in a wide variety of fields throughout his career, accounting, legal, construction, and truss manufacturing/assembly.  Through this variety, Tyler has become highly proficient in many different skillsets such as, troubleshooting/problem solving, system optimization, critical thinking, computer skills, and accounting.  With a strong effort of increasing productivity and making a lasting, positive impact on operational functions, Tyler is constantly striving to improve efficiency by optimizing existing and creating new systems. Tyler has completed most of his 2-year associate degree in accounting at Hennepin Technical College.  As an avid golfer and fisherman, Tyler can either be found on the golf course or on his kayak catching bass for sport.  Tyler also enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
